John M. King
My friend of many years. He was very involved with the Nixon Staff and the FBI. Here is a bit of web info about him.Late 1969: Oilman Suggests What Becomes Townhouse Operation
Independent oilman John M. King calls President Nixon’s staff to suggest that the Nixon White House funnel money from big GOP donors directly to Senate and House candidates rather than using the customary method of letting the Republican Party determine the recipients. King suggests this operation be kept under wraps. White House chief of staff H. R. Haldeman brings the bare bones of the idea to Nixon, who reportedly thinks it sounds fine. We spent many years celebrating at one of the King Ranches. In fact, he brought out a Thompson sub machine gun, “A gift he said, from the FBI”. Below is a picture from the 80’s of my sister shooting it. We also had a great time with a howitzer he loaned us to shoot down trees. This picture is also from the 80’s which I put a little extra black powder in it for my good friend Walt Karch to blast. It sure lifted the truck and scared him a bit.
